Highlights & Academic Statistics
The results show that our strategy is working.
- Students LEARN MORE because we are in school longer than most middle schools.
- We are the HIGHEST PERFORMING middle school on our side of the city.
- Students can CALL TEACHERS for help on homework every night until 9pm.
- Our students make TREMENDOUS ACADEMIC GROWTH from 5th to 8th grade.
We give the Stanford Achievement Test (SAT-10) to our students at the beginning of their 5th grade year and in the Spring of every year. This nationally norm-referenced test shows growth of individual students (which the California Standards Test can not show). For reference, it is expected that a student with normal year’s growth will stay at the same percentile (0%). KIPP Bayview students demonstrate significant growth year after year. Cumulative growth from 5th to 8th grades is shown below.
Students in California are required to take the California Standards Test (CST), a standards-based test, each academic year. The CST measures how well students have learned a pre-determined set of academic skills. The CST allows us to determine how well KIPP Bayview is performing compared with demographically similar neighboring schools and compared with the San Francisco Unified School District.
Both the SAT-10 and the CST indicate that KBA students are catching up and excelling in their classes—effectively closing the achievement gap.
